And this is far from a complete list of what mint hydrolate is capable of.

Hydrolat - what is it?

Hydrolate is a secondary product of steam distillation. The first is essential oils. Hydrolats are less concentrated, contain a very small amount of essential oils and are suitable for the most delicate skin (even babies).

Hydrolat is born in the process of distillation of plants, resulting in two products: essential oil and hydrolat. Hydrosol is the aqueous part that has separated from the essential oil. It contains aromatic microfractions of essential oil in its composition, which managed to dissolve in water.

The name hydrolat comes from two words "hydro" (water) and "late" (milk). Milk, because as soon as the hydrolat is taken out of the steam distiller, it looks like milk.

Hydrolates contain the entire plant from which it was made: all water-soluble components, essential oil molecules, fluids that moved between the cells of the plant when it was harvested.

Hydrolats are often called floral water, but we don't like that term. First, not all hydrolats are made from flowers (they can be from roots, twigs, bark, etc.). And secondly, it is not water.

Each liter of hydrolate contains from 0.05 to 0.2 ml of dissolved essential oil. And this part of the essential oil in the hydrolate is completely different from the essential oil that is obtained as the main product of distillation. Why? Because the essential oil of the hydrolat contains water-soluble microfractions that will never get into the essential oil, because they will not be able to dissolve there.

Thus, the hydrolate has all the useful properties of the plant from which it was extracted, only its effect is more delicate and gentle compared to the powerful effect of essential oils.

Mint hydrolate is universal, just like essential oil, suitable for any type of skin.

How to use mint hydrolate for cleansing and toning the skin and what are its advantages:

Toning - mint hydrolat is most often used as a face tonic. It has antiseptic and antibacterial properties that help keep your face clean. Plus, it's very soothing to the skin and helps control redness and acne. Wipe skin after cleansing with a sponge soaked in hydrosol before moisturizing for best results.

Hydration – mint hydrolat provides additional hydration, especially for dry and mature skin.

Freshness - a spray for fragrance in the house, refreshing laundry or for ironing - another way of use. Keep in mind that the fragrance is mild and does not have a fixing effect, so the smell disappears over time.
