Natural St. John's wort oil (macerate)

St. John's wort macerate from Aroma Fields is an authentic galena product created according to the strict canons of European phytopharmacy. To make the extract, we use exclusively flowering tops of St. John's wort and a stable base of certified first cold-pressed jojoba oil.

The real therapeutic value of this product is revealed thanks to the method of prolonged solar insolation (photomaceration), during which natural ultraviolet radiation activates a cascade of photochemical reactions. Under the influence of sunlight, the colorless native protohypericin of the plant is transformed into red hypericin and pseudohypericin. It is these rare molecules that color the oil in a deep blood-ruby color and ensure its high clinical potential (Karioti & Bilia, 2010).

Biochemical profile and therapeutic properties

The main clinical advantage of St. John's wort macerate is its pronounced neurotropic effect in inflammatory lesions of peripheral nerves. The complex of hypericin and hyperforin modulates the transmission of impulses in nerve synapses, significantly reducing discomfort in sciatica, lumbago, tunnel syndrome and neuralgia (Baudoux, 2018).

In dermatological practice, St. John's wort oil serves as a powerful tissue regenerator for skin regeneration after household burns, healing of postoperative scars, cracks and bedsores. Studies confirm that St. John's wort lipid extract significantly stimulates fibroblast migration and collagen synthesis, accelerating epithelization of affected areas (Süntar et al., 2010). In addition to regeneration, active hyperforin has a direct bactericidal effect against resistant strains of Staphylococcus aureus (Schempp et al., The Lancet, 1999).

In body therapy and holistic massage, this macerate helps to effectively relieve chronic muscle cramps and calm an overworked nervous system (Buckle, 2015).

Benefits of the base jojoba and the safety code

The choice of jojoba oil as a lipid carrier ensures the preservation of sensitive bioactive compounds of St. John's wort from premature oxidation. Being a liquid vegetable wax in its biochemical structure, jojoba has exceptional stability and does not turn rancid over time. Due to its affinity to human sebum, it acts as a physiological transdermal conductor of hypericin into the deep layers of the dermis. For perfect antioxidant protection, each batch is additionally enriched with a complex of natural mixed tocopherols.

The use of St. John's wort macerate is strictly subject to safety rules according to international standards (Tisserand & Young, 2014). Since hypericin is a photosensitizer, St. John's wort macerate should not be applied before going out into the open sun or visiting a solarium. To prevent the occurrence of photosensitivity or unwanted hyperpigmentation, maintain a mandatory interval of 12 hours between the procedure and insolation. The optimal time to apply the oil is in the evening hours or on areas of the body covered by clothing.
